Before a Brand Starts Running By Eric Zhou

Now the very problem that is facing China's architectural hardware manufacturers (and many other small to medium business) is that they do not have their own brands. In other words, brand managing is very weak in this industry (and many others). Most such businesses have been chasing orders and ignoring the right developing strategies. Order is the king! They have no understand of the importance of brand and marketing.Recent economic downturn, however, has brought the question on table and caught attentions. In the past six months, smaller businesses were closing, and others were striving. And they began to think over the question of how a suitable strategy should be built. And all thoughts come to the word, brand. What is brand? And especially what is brand to small to medium businesses? Simply saying, brand is awareness, value, loyalty and profit. And what should be done to achieve a value added, customer-loyal and profitable brand?Firstly a brand strategy is to be established. Brand strategy often follows and conform to corporate strategy, which should also be built. Brand strategy is to determine the followings:- The target market(s). - Corresponding product offerings and services - Brand image - Pricing - Sales channelsWhen a brand strategy is built, corresponding activities (tactics) must follow. They are- Slogan - Coding system - Packaging and labeling - Sales team - Customer service and the team - Ad campaign - Brand managerThe list can go on. And all of the above must be done before a brand is to be publicized. And there's one thing we must keep in mind: persistence. Once you've reached a decision to carry out a marketing approach, do it continuously and consistently. You may adjust your plan and practise, but do not abandon. Brand managing is not like sales, which can obtain earnings very shortly. It is a long term task. And the earning can not be easily measured.http://metalworkmarketer.blogspot.comArticle Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Eric_Zhou
